“Let no man’s heart fail because of him” (I Samuel 17:32).

“Let no man’s heart fail because of him” are the words of hope spoken by David. The appearance of Goliath, the Philistine warrior dismayed all the Israelites. But David did not dismay. Further, he stayed as the one to strengthen others through his fearless words.

Tribulation is there for everyone who is born in the world. But at the same time, you, the children of God should not forget that you have been called to be victorious and not to stay discouraged with fears. Whichever man’s eyes do not look up to his problems but look up to God instead, he will emerge victorious always.

That day, Saul and other warriors viewed Goliath as a huge giant. But David saw that one who is greater than Goliath was with him. He not only believed that the Name of God will bring him victory but also was always thinking only about the power of God. Maybe, the thought of the consequences which would arise if he gets defeated would have come to his mind. If he had lost the fight, the first thing would have been loss of his life. King Saul would have lost his kingship. The Israelites too would have been enslaved by the Philistines.

David did not get depressed with such thoughts but spoke the words of victory in the Name of God. Do you know what the tiny looking David said to a giant like Goliath? He said “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel” (I Samuel 17:46).

Never get dismayed when you face problems or when the man of the world rises against you. The Scripture says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1).

Read the following verses and proclaim your hope. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31),“Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?”(Romans 8:33) and “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4). Dear children of God, when you do so, be assured that all your problems will get broken and run away.

To meditate: “…this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them…. The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear….will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” (I Samuel 17:36, 37).

Sep 02 – ACCOUNT!

Sep 02 – ACCOUNT!

“…put my tears into your bottle; are they not in your book?” (Psalm 56:8).

God has an account over every man. Man has to submit accounts over many things to God. He has to account for every unwanted word he speaks and also about his body. He has to give an account over all the talents, skills and gifts which God had given him. Not only that. Man has to also settle accounts to God over every second he spends.

We find David saying, “Lord, you are demanding accounts over many things from me. But what I want from you is to keep my tears in your accounts and answer my tearful requests. Let my tears be in your accounts.” Just think deeply over the prayer of David. He points out “Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll; are they not in your record?”

God is not one to forget all your tiresome efforts taken towards His ministry. He is not one to forget the offertory you give for His ministry. Also, He is not one to forget the prayers you made in His presence shedding tears with burden, for gaining souls. They are in His accounts. David prays saying “put my tears in your account.”

A very important factor which you lift up in the presence of God is tears. The prayers with tears bring the blessings of the worldly life and also the blessings of eternity. Those who shed tears for the blessings of the present receive the same. Those who sigh and shed tears seeking eternal things will receive eternal benefits.

Hannah shed tears. Being unable to bear the ill-treatment meted out by her rival, we do not know for how many days she shed tears in loneliness. But those drops of tears kept collected in the bottle of God. One day came and she decided to go to the presence of God and fill His bottle with her tears. Her womb being closed, she was filled with sorrow.                                                        She went to the temple and wept bitterly in the presence of God. God saw her tears and her womb was blessed with the life of the noble Prophet. She became the mother of not only the blessed Samuel but also became a mother for five more children.

Dear children of God, are you walking in the path of tears? Every drop of tearsyou shed, the sound of every sigh you make, every lamentation you make and every effort you take, find a place in His accounts. He will surely bless and exalt you.

To meditate: “The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron” (Psalm 115:12).

Sep 01 – HAVE FOUND!

Sep 01 – HAVE FOUND!

“I have found my servant David; with my holy oil I have anointed him” (Psalm 89:20).

Some people go nostalgic about their happy school days. Some others feel happy at the thought of their marriage. A few others think of their acts of bravery in the past and feel happy. But for God, He feels happy in the thought of how He chose, redeemed and anointed you.

God says the following about David. “I have found my servant David; with my holy oil I have anointed him, with whom my hand shall be established; also, my arm shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him. I will beat down his foes before his face and plague those who hate him. “But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him and in my name, his horn shall be exalted. Also, I will set his hand to ruleover the sea and his right hand to rule over the rivers.”

He shall cry to me, ‘you are my Father, my God and the rock of my salvation’. Also, I will make him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for him forever and my covenant shall stand firm with him. His seed also I will make to endure forever and his throne as the days of heaven” (Psalm 89:20-29).

God begins with the words, “I have found my servant David.” The same God has chosen every one of you in different ways. Nothing is invisible in the eyes of God. The eyes of God which look around the whole world saw you during the days of your distress, hardship and sorrows. God who saw you, desired to fill you with the Holy Spirit and power.

That day Samuel took his horn of oil and anointed David amid his brothers. God has anointed you in the same way. “And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Revelation 1:6).

Throughout David’s lifetime, God crowned him with victory. That God wants to make a covenant with you today. God who saw you will empower you to stamp the serpents and the scorpions and to overcome all the powers of the enemy.

To meditate: “His seed shall endure forever and his throne as the sun before me” (Psalm 89:36).
